Southport Transient 8 x 10

This is a boat that was in the yacht basin here for a day two summers ago.  I got some good pictures of it because it is an interesting boat and I liked the bright summer sun light on the side of the boat and the colors in the canvas.  This is the second time I've painted it, but, this time I did it on a smaller scale and accented the flags and sail covers.

Southport Workhorse 8 x 10

Last weekend in Southport, as the snow melted and the sun came out, it seemed everyone was out walking and enjoying the weather.  The horse and buggy driver was also out, sitting on the waterfront waiting for a customer.  I loved the way the sun lit up the side of this little, patient horse. I ran home, got my camera and painted him while the memory was still fresh.

Backyard Deer 8 x 8

I got an email from someone who had taken some incredible pictures of the "almost tame" deer that they feed and which inhabit their back yard.  I loved this picture because it gives you a rare glimpse of what they look like when they are not sprinting away from you in fear.

Passing Through 8 x 10 Sold

I saw these guys coasting through Southport last summer and caught a picture.  Later, I heard that they had stopped at the marina that and they were on a long journey down the coast on this little boat.  I thought it looked like quite an adventure.  I sold this picture to someone in Ohio and before I shipped it I looked up the name on the side of the boat, "Habitatcrew.com". It just so happens that they are from Willowick, Ohio and I thought it fitting the painting should be going back to their state.
